Core Electrical Requirements

Enter the electrical targets the inductor must meet.
Enter target inductance value.
Choose unit (µH, mH, H).
Continuous RMS current through the inductor.
Switching frequency of converter or drive.
Enter either ripple current or ripple percent. If both are entered, ripple current will take priority.
Peak-to-peak ripple current (use % instead if preferred).
Ripple current as % of RMS current (alternative to absolute).

Operating Limits

These values define the operating boundaries the design should stay within.
Optional: maximum DC bias current.
Max allowable DC resistance of winding.
Allowable ΔT above ambient.
Operating ambient temperature.

Size Constraints

Leave blank if physical size is flexible.
Outer envelope length in millimeters
Outer envelope width in millimeters
Outer envelope height in millimeters

Design Priorities

Adjust the sliders to tell us what matters most in your final design.

Tip: These sliders express your design priorities. You don’t need to make them add up to 100 — the system will normalize them automatically.

Selected Value: 35
How important is minimizing physical size?
Selected Value: 25
How important is maximizing efficiency (low loss)?
Selected Value: 15
Weight on BOM/core/wire cost.
Selected Value: 15
Importance of keeping ΔT low.
Selected Value: 10
Importance of leakage/EMI concerns.
Selected Value: 20
Higher weight prioritizes cores that are currently in stock or widely available

Advanced Technology Preferences

Use these filters only if you want to limit the design to specific materials or construction methods.
Restrict selection to certain magnetic material classes. If unsure, leave blank — system will consider all materials.
Select preferred winding type. Litz is best for high frequency, foil for high current, round for general purpose.
Select whether surface mount or through-hole mounting
Orientation of core/winding if constrained by layout
Connection type for winding terminals

Safety and Compliance

Insulation Class
Thermal insulation class per IEC 60085
Compliance / Safety
Select applicable compliance or safety standards.

Additional Design Options

Allow Gapped Ferrite
Permit ferrite cores with discrete or distributed gaps. Uncheck if design must use ungapped cores only (e.g. powdered iron)
