Electrical Requirements

Enter numeric values only. Do not type unit symbols into number fields. Select the applicable unit from the dropdown beside each electrical value; the form converts it to the API unit automatically.
Enter the minimum DC voltage applied to the primary switching stage, then select the input-voltage unit below. Example: enter 400 and select VDC.
Enter the maximum DC voltage applied to the primary switching stage, using the same unit selected below. Example: enter 800 and select VDC.
Select the unit used for both minimum and maximum DC bus input voltage. The form converts both values to volts for the API.
Enter the required regulated DC output voltage, then select the output-voltage unit below. Example: enter 24 and select VDC.
Select the unit used for Main Output Voltage. The form converts the value to volts for the API.
Enter the continuous output current as a number, then select A, mA, or µA below. Example: enter 500 and select mA for 0.5 A.
Select the unit used for Continuous Output Current. The form converts the value to amperes before it is sent to the API.
Automatically calculated from the normalized output voltage in volts and output current in amperes.
Select the converter topology that will drive this transformer. The current automated Flyback Designer is intended for conventional flyback converters.
Enter the switching frequency as a number, then select Hz, kHz, or MHz below. Example: enter 100 and select kHz.
Select the unit used for Switching Frequency. The form converts the value to kilohertz for the API.
Select the estimated full-load efficiency. The API receives percentage points; 90% is sent as 90, not 0.90.
Select the maximum permitted duty cycle. The API receives percentage points; 45% is sent as 45, not 0.45.

Isolation / Safety Requirements

Safety / Compliance Target

Core / Material Preferences

Enter the maximum allowed transformer temperature rise above ambient in degrees Celsius. Example: enter 40 for a 40°C rise.
Enter the maximum ambient operating temperature in degrees Celsius. Example: enter 25 for 25°C.

Mechanical / Winding Preferences

Include Auxiliary Winding?
The current API v1 production template does not yet generate an auxiliary winding. Leave this unchecked for an automated design.
Future-use field. Enter auxiliary output current in amperes. The current API v1 production template does not yet generate the auxiliary winding.
Future-use field. Enter auxiliary output voltage in DC volts. The current API v1 production template does not yet generate the auxiliary winding.
Include any special requirements such as creepage, clearance, insulation tape, shielding, bobbin constraints, preferred core series, agency requirements, or mechanical limits.

Design Preference Priorities

Selected Value: 50
Higher values favor a smaller transformer, even if losses or temperature rise may increase.
Selected Value: 70
Higher values favor lower total loss and better efficiency.
Selected Value: 70
Higher values favor cooler operation and more thermal margin.
Selected Value: 40
Higher values favor lower-cost materials, simpler construction, and more common core families.
Selected Value: 60
Higher values favor winding arrangements that improve coupling, reduce leakage inductance, and improve output regulation.
Selected Value: 80
Higher values favor more creepage, clearance, insulation margin, and safety spacing between primary and secondary windings.
Selected Value: 70
Higher values favor simpler winding structure, reasonable fill factor, fewer layers, and easier assembly.
Selected Value: 60
Higher values favor lower-noise construction, shielding options, reduced leakage energy, and more conservative layout choices.
